Field Hockey Suffers 2-0 Setback To No. 17 Drexel

DURHAM, N.C. – The Indiana field hockey team closed out the weekend with a 2-0 loss to No. 17-ranked Drexel this afternoon in a neutral site contest at the Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium in Durham, N.C.
The Hoosiers were out-shot by the Dragons, 22-12, and drew five penalty corners compared to Drexel’s 11.
Audra Heilman fired a team-high four shots in the contest with one on goal, while both of Sydney Supica’s shots were on goal this afternoon. Mariella Grote and Danielle McNally also hit one shot on goal for the Hoosiers.
Maggie Olson made seven saves for the second consecutive start, but falls to 0-2 on the season.
Drexel jumped ahead in the 14th minute on an unassisted goal by Mary Lynam, and another score in the 55th minute would post the eventual final score of 2-0.
The Hoosiers will return to action in their home opener on September 6 when they host Saint Louis in the IUFH Complex. Game time is set for 3 p.m. ET.
