Hoosiers Fall In OT at No. 6 Iowa, 2-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime to the sixth ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday. Katie Griswold scored her third goal of the season in the second half to even the score at 1-1, but the Hawkeyes got a goal from Lauren Pfeiffer eight minutes into overtime for the win.
Indiana drops to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in Big Ten play while Iowa improves to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten.
Indiana goalkeeper Haley Exner made nine saves and has yet to allow more than two goals in a game so far in 2007. She kept the Hoosiers in the game in the first half, making six saves.
Iowa got on the board first in the 16th minute on Caroline Blaum's second goal of the season. The Hawkeyes would maintain the lead until Griswold struck in the 41st minute to tie the game.
The Hoosiers were outshot 21-7 in the game and drew four less penalty corners, 8-12, but were still in it right to the very end. Danitra Castro led the Hoosier attack with four shots, two on goal.
Indiana will return home next weekend when they host the Miami RedHawks at 3 p.m. on Friday and Penn State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
