Field Hockey Loses To Ball State On The Road

Muncie, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team fell to in-state opponent Ball State this afternoon after a last-minute goal by the Cardinals lifted BSU, 3-2, over the Hoosiers.
Both squads totaled 16 shots in the contest, with Sydney Supica's six shots pacing the Hoosiers' offensive efforts. Supica netted her first career goal against Ball State, and Mariella Grote accounted for IU's remaining goal of the afternoon.
Grote's unassisted goal put the Hoosiers ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute of play, but the Cardinals answered in the 35th minute off of a penalty corner.
In the 42nd minute, Supica found the back of the cage with a successful shot from the top of the shooting circle to even the game at two goals apiece; however, the home team managed to score late with just 18 seconds in regulation to steal a last-minute victory.
The Hoosiers will return to Bloomingtonand resume B1G play on Oct. 5 to take on Iowa at 3 p.m.
