Hoosiers Fall to Ohio State, 3-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team closed out the regular season with a tough 3-1 loss to Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the IU Field Hockey Complex in Bloomington.
With Ohio State leading 2-0, Mariella Grote scored the Hoosiers' (9-8, 0-6) lone goal in the 32nd minute as she played a pass from Morgan Fleetwood into the left side of the goal to cut the Buckeyes' (10-8, 2-4) lead in half, 2-1. However, OSU scored in the 64th minute to seal the 3-1 win.
Viki Green started in goal for the Hoosiers and tallied 10 saves in 70 minutes. Ohio State outshot IU, 23-10, and had 10 corners to Indiana's four.
Fleetwood led IU with five shots, one on goal, while Grote tallied three shots, two on goal with one goal - her sixth of the season. Fleetwood picked up her 10th assist of the year. Amanda Bennison and Emily Bowker each tallied one shot on goal.
Indiana will await its opponent for the 2012 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament, which begins on Thursday, Nov. 1 in Iowa City.
