    Field Hockey Inks Four In Early Signing Period

    Indiana field hockey head coach Amy Robertson has announced the signing of five new athletes to the 2013 roster. Kayla Cunningham (Whitehall, Pa.), Kate Barber (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.), Morgan Dye (Powell, Ohio), Malia Fujisawa (Davis, Calif.) and Beth Lee (San Diego, Calif.).

    "The future of the Indiana Field Hockey program is brighter than ever with the addition of five outstanding young women in our incoming 2013 class," said Robertson. "We worked really hard to find not just the best but also the right players for our program as we look to contend for a Big Ten championship and to be a consistent top program in the nation. This group will add depth and make an immediate impact on every single line, from goalkeeping to forwards."

    Here is a look at each of the signees:

    Kate Barber - MF
    Dardenne Prairie, MO-Lafayette High School
    A four-year letter winner for Lafayette HS...A two-time NFHCA second team All-American in 2010 and 2012...Earned NFHCA All-Region accolades in 2010, 2011 and 2012...Named St. Louis Post Dispatch Player of the Year in 2011 and first team All-Metro in 2010, 2011 and 2012...A two-time Suburban West Conference Player of the Year and four-time All-Conference selection...Was named co-captain as a junior and senior...A Futures participant from 2009-2013 and won the gold medal at the 2009 Futures Championship...Took Gold at the 2012 Futures Elite Championship...Past of the AAU Junior Olympics in 2009 and 2010...U17 Junior National Team member in 2012 and part of the 2013 U19 Junior National Training Squad... Helped Lafayette HS to Elite 8 finishes in 2009 and 2012, a Final Four appearance in 2010, a State Championship in 2011 and Public School Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012...Was featured in the Dec. 3, 2012 issue of Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" after setting the national record for assists in 2012...Daughter of Chris and Adrienne Barber and has one brother, Jacob... father Chris played football at Eastern Illinois University...Intended major is undecided.

    Kayla Cunningham - F/MF
    Whitehall, Pa. - Whitehall
    A four-year letter winner at Whitehall High School...Was named LVC MVP as a junior and senior...A two-time first team LVC selection...Two-time first team All-Area and All-State honoree...Helped Whitehall to LVC and District 11 runner-up finishes and a state qualifier in 2011...Set career records in goals (91) and assists (36) and set the single season record for goals scored...Also a standout soccer player for Whitehall High School and earned Morning Call Player of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior...Daughter of Tim and Tammi Cunningham and has three sisters, Kourtney, Kylee and Kassidy, and one brother, Tyler...Intended major is undecided.

    Morgan Dye - F/MF
    Powell, Ohio - Olentangy Liberty
    A four-year letter winner at Olentangy Liberty...A two-time first team All-League selection in 2011 and 2012 and a second team selection in 2009 and 2010...Earned first team All-State and Regional All-American accolades in 2012...Set school's career records in assists (66), points (178) as well as single season records for assists (20), points (64) and finished third in career goals (56) and single season goals (22)...Was a four-time Academic All-Ohio selection...Named Team MVP in 2011 and 2012...Helped lead Olentangy Liberty HS to a 2012 District Finals appearance...Was featured as a Sports Illustrated Kids Athlete of the Month in November 2009...daughter of Harry and Lynne Dye and has two sisters, Katherine and Victoria...intends to major in Finance and Accounting.

    Malia Fujisawa - D
    Davis, Calif. - Davis High School
    A three-year letter winner for Davis High School...Was named Eastern Athletic League Defensive Player of the Year and an EAL All-League and All-Tournament selection as a senior...Helped Davis HS to a 2012 EAL League Championship Post-Season Tournament appearance...Part of the Davis HS squad that set program records for goals in a season (133)...Made three defensive saves as a junior and added six defensive saves, three goals and six assists as a senior...Daughter of Glenn and Rita Fujisawa...Intends to major in Human Development and Family Studies and minor is Kinesiology.
