BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana field hockey head coach Amy Robertson has added Kate Lipton to the Hoosiers' coaching staff. She will work primarily with player development, on-campus recruiting and off-campus recruiting coordination, as well as assist with field skill and tactical development, compliance, travel, academics and equipment.
"I feel very fortunate that we have added Kate Lipton to the Indiana coaching staff," said Robertson. "She is one of the up-and-coming young coaches in the U.S., and I am so thrilled that we get to help her develop in this profession and also benefit from her positive energy and outlook.
"She will play a big role in our hockey and player development. She is used to performing multiple roles and will help us to identify and attract some of the best and right recruits for Indiana in the future as one of our recruiting coordinators."
Lipton joins the IU staff after serving as an assistant coach at Saint Louis for the past three seasons. There, she was responsible for a variety of duties including practice plans, skill instruction, tactical development, recruiting, camp curriculum and fundraising. Prior to her time at Saint Louis, she was an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach at Saint Michael's College from 2008-2010. Lipton has also served as an assistant coach for the USA Field Hockey Futures Program and was the head coach of Aim Club Field Hockey, Virginia Commonwealth University Hockey Camps as well as the University of Vermont Field Hockey Camps.
Lipton is also a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the USA Field Hockey Association and also owns USHFA Level II Coaching Accreditation.
The Newton, Mass. native earned her Bachelors of Education in Elementary Education with a concentration in Sociology and Art from the University of Vermont before completing her Master's of Higher Education at Saint Louis.
"Kate has the attitude, enthusiasm, intelligence, work ethic and personality that we were looking for on our staff," added Robertson. "She is very passionate about coaching and passing on her knowledge of hockey to our players and is also someone who has the desire to grow in the profession and reach her goal of becoming a Head Coach at the Division I level in the future."
