BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Hoosiers will continue their five-game homestand with a Saturday game against the Ball State Cardinals starting at 2 p.m. The two teams squared off in an exhibition match on Aug. 18, with the Hoosiers coming away with a 5-3 win. Indiana traveled to Muncie, Ind. last year to take on the Cardinals and pulled out a 2-1 win with goals coming from Kate O'Connell and Lydia Schrott.

    Scouting the Cardinals
Ball State opened the season with a 3-2 overtime victory at Villanova, but have struggled of late, dropping its last four decisions. The most recent setback came at the hands of Northwestern, 5-2. Ball State scored the first goal of the game, but Northwestern battled back to get two goals before the end of the first half. Then a second half hat trick from Alison Bullock put the game out of reach.

Cardinal goalkeeper Tiffany Shifflett enters this weekend as the Mid-American Conference leader in saves with 58. She has two games so far this season with 16 or more saves (17 at Villanova, 16 at Northwestern). Although it is still early, Shifflett's 11.6 saves per game is on pace to break the Ball State single-season record.

The Cardinals were picked to finish second in the MAC, behind 2006 champion Ohio University. The game against Indiana will be the final non-conference tune up for the Cardinals before they enter conference play next weekend at Miami (Ohio).
