Weekend Preview: Hoosiers Travel to Ann Arbor in Search of First Big Ten Win
Oct. 12, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday to take on the University of Michigan Wolverines at 4 p.m. It will be the Hoosiers only game of the week, as they will be looking to get in the win column in Big Ten play while the Wolverines will be looking to stay undefeated in conference play.
The Hoosiers are coming off a split of a pair of home games last weekend that saw the Hoosiers pick up a 2-1 win over Miami and then drop a 2-0 decision against Penn State. Against the RedHawks, Amanda Oyler and Meg O'Connell scored the Hoosier goals while Haley Exner made five saves in each game.
The Indiana defense continues to be solid, no matter who they are playing. Through 12 games, Indiana has yet to allow more than two goals in a game and have allowed just 13 total goals this year, the fewest allowed through 12 games since the program was reinstated in 2000. The single-season record for goals allowed is 34 set in 2004. Indiana has five regular season games remaining plus one guaranteed game in the Big Ten tournament.
SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
Paige Pickett has played every minute of every game this year for Michigan and has posted a goals against average of 1.80 while making 63 saves and posting two shutouts.
Michigan is 4-0 in Big Ten play, with three of those victories coming in an overtime period.
