Brown, Exner Named to NFHCA Senior All-Star Team
Oct. 23, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the team members for the 2007 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game on Monday and goalkeeper Haley Exner and midfielder Meredith Brown will represent Indiana.
The game is scheduled for Nov. 17 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. and will begin at 7:30 p.m, featuring the top 38 senior field hockey players in Division I.
This marks the third consecutive season that IU has had two representatives in the game, and the Hoosiers are one of ten schools to have two players selected. Last season, Morgan Miller and Lydia Schrott played in the game while Kayla Bashore and Mallory Reabold competed in 2005 and Molly Pulkrabek was an alternate in 2003.
Brown, a native of Elkton, Md., is having another stellar season at midfield for Indiana. She entered 2007 as the Indiana career leader in assists and has eight this season to give her 35 for her career with two regular season games and one Big Ten Tournament game left on the schedule. Brown is also one of four Hoosiers to start all 15 games so far this season and is closing in on the record for games played in a career.
Exner, a native of San Diego, Calif., has been a three year starter in goal for the Hoosiers and is on pace to set the single season and career goals against average records at Indiana. Currently, she owns the records for career shutouts with eight and victories with 37 with two regular season games remaining. Exner also ranks among the best in the country in goals against average and save percentage this season.
Indiana will travel to Louisville on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game with the Cardinals and then return home on Sunday, Oct. 28, for the final home game of the season against Northwestern starting at 1 p.m.
