BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the second time this season, Indiana field hockey junior Audra Heilman has been recognized by the Big Ten as the Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Heilman is the first player in IU field hockey history to win two offensive player of the week awards in the same season.

“Audra’s offensive contribution to our team has been immeasurable this season,” IU head coach Amy Robertson said.  “She has worked very hard in the offseason and in season to be more of an offensive threat and she is very deserving to receive this week’s offensive Big Ten player honor.   She has helped Indiana sustain and create more attack and complete the task with either an assist or finish on many of the team’s goal scoring opportunities.”

Heilman helped the Hoosiers go 2-0 this past weekend with victories at Ohio State, 5-4 in overtime and at home on senior day, 6-1 against Ball State.

Against Ohio State, Heilman scored the game-winning goal in overtime and had two assists to help the Hoosiers secure the victory.

The following day Heilman had a goal and two more assists to lead the Hoosiers to a 6-1 victory against Ball State.

Heilman is closing in on several season and career records for the Hoosiers. Heilman’s 29 points this season (nine goals and 11 assists) rank fourth on the Hoosiers record list and she is nine points from tying the record of 38, set by Morgan Fleetwood in 2012. Heilman is just one assist shy of tying the season record of 12, also set by Fleetwood in 2012. Heilman’s 55 points for he career rank sixth on the Hoosiers all-time list and she is one point short of moving into a tie for fifth on the list.

Heilman and the Hoosiers travel to Michigan this weekend for a 1:00 p.m. game Sunday against the Wolverines and begin play in the Big Ten Tournament Nov. 7 at Ohio State.
