Feb. 18, 2014
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - The Indiana University women's golf team posted a final round score of 300 to place ninth at the 13-team Central District Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf Club.
The Hoosiers finished with a three-round tally of 884 (288-296-300). Vanderbilt (844) took a one-stroke victory over UCF (845), with Michigan State third (849). Louisville fourth (861) and SMU (863) rounding out the top five.
Freshman Ana Sanjuan finished tied for 25th after a final round 74 (71-74-74/219). Sanjuan tallied birdies on holes 16 and 18, but a double bogey on the par-5 ninth hole negated that effort.
Sophomore Marissa DeCola was 5-over for the final round and placed tied for 31st with a score of 221 (71-73-77). DeCola had 13 holes of par on the day but could not find any birdies with bogeys on the five remaining holes.
Sophomore Maria Mancini had the low round of the day, finishing with a 72 and tied for 38th on the leaderboard (73-78-72/223). Mancini had a team-best five birdies in the round, including a -2 over the par-4 11th hole and par-5 12th hole. A double bogey on the par-4 first hole kept her from her first under-par round of the season.
Junior Sarah Dusman placed tied for 50th with a season-best score of 226 (73-76-77). Dusman finished the tournament with 12 holes of par or better, including a birdie on the par-3 16th hole.
Junior Elizabeth Tong finished tied for 53rd after a final round 80 (74-73-80). It was a struggle on the day for Tong, who recorded four double bogeys. Tong put up three birdies on the day, including a pair on the front nine.
Sophomore Camille Chevalier was the top individual for IU, placing tied for 60th with a score of 233 (80-75-78/233). Freshman Theresa-Ann Jedra was tied for 68th (81-80-80/241) along with junior Kamryn Klawitter (82-83-76/241).
