Hoosiers 7th After Two Rounds of Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Indiana women's golf team is in seventh place with a score of 593 after 36 holes of the Mountain View Collegiate at Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
The Hoosiers posted rounds of 293 and 300 on Friday for their tally of 593. Texas Tech leads the field at 573, followed by Northern Arizona (575), San Jose State (577), Kansas State (584) and Texas State (584).
The tournament concludes Saturday with a single round beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET.
"We didn't really take advantage of the opportunities that were out there for us," said head coach Clint Wallman. "We are looking for a good round tomorrow, which can certainly move us up in the field."
Senior Rosie Davies leads the Hoosier contingent, tied for 16th with a score of 146. Davies carded an even-par 72 in round one, following up with a 2-over 74 in the final 18 holes.
Freshman Marissa DeCola is one stroke back, tied for 19th at 147. DeCola was among the leaders after round one with an even-par 72 and came back with a 3-over 75 in round two.
Sophomore Elizabeth Tong is tied for 29th with her score of 148. Tong joined Davies and DeCola at even on the leaderboard after round one with a 72 and tallied a 4-over 76 in the second round of action.
Graduate student Kristen Schelling is tied for 50th on the leaderboard (152). Schelling was 5-over after round one with a 77, but shaved two strokes off her score in round two with a 75.
Senior Kate Coons is tied for 52nd with her scorecard at 153. Coons sat with freshman Eva Schoenwald and Schelling tied for 56th after round one with a 5-over 77. She moved up the board with a 4-over 76 in round two.
Schoenwald is 75th with a score of 163. She posted a 77 in round one, but struggled with the course a second-time around, carding a 14-over 86.
