Hoosiers Finish 6th at Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Indiana women's golf team finished sixth at the 15-team Mountain View Collegiate at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
The Hoosiers posted a final round score of 286 to finish with a 54-hole tally of 879 (293-300-286). Texas Tech won the title at 858, followed by San Jose State (859), Texas State (871), Kansas State (873) and Missouri (876) rounding out the top five.
"We got much better play from top to bottom," said head coach Clint Wallman. "We played at the level we should be playing at. The girls had good pace and good tempo and really paid attention to the details. That showed up in a strong score. We look to build upon that finish next week."
Senior Rosie Davies moved up two spots to finish tied for 14th after carding a 1-over 73 on Saturday (72-74-73/219). Low round of the day honors for Indiana went to graduate student Kristen Schelling, who tallied a 3-under 69 to place tied for 23rd (77-75-69/221).
However, the most exciting shot of the day award goes to sophomore Elizabeth Tong as she recorded a hole-in-one on the 17th hole, part of a 2-over 74 round for Tong, placing her tied for 29th in the field (72-76-74/222). Also finishing tied for 29th was freshman Marissa DeCola, with a 3-over 75 Saturday (72-75-75/222).
Senior Kate Coons gave Indiana five players in the top-35 as she finished tied for 34th with a score of 223. She was the second Hoosier to post an under-par round on the day, with a 2-under 70 (77-76-70/223).
Competing as an individual, freshman Eva Schoenwald placed 79th, recording a 13-over 85 on the final 18 holes (77-86-85/248).
