Hoosiers Sixth at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana women's golf team is tied for sixth place after two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Invitational being held on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club.
Indiana posted rounds of 312 and 311 on Saturday for a score of 623. Purdue leads the field at 605, followed by Michigan State (606), Northwestern (607), Ohio State (615) and Wisconsin (620).
Senior Kate Coons leads the Hoosiers and is tied for eighth with a tally of 153.Coons posted a 5-over 77 over the first 18 holes, with birdies on three of the first seven holes of the day. She posted back-to-back birdies on eight and nine and tallied a four on the par-5 12th hole. She came back with a 4-over 76 in round two, including a birdie on the par-3 eighth hole.
Senior Rosie Davies is tied for 22nd at 156. Davies was the top Hoosier in round one with a 4-over 76. She tallied two birdies in the round, with a four on the par-5 14th hole and a four on the par-5 fourth hole. Davies went eight over in round two with an 80 but tallied three birdies in the round on 13, 14 and three.
Freshman Marissa DeCola is tied for 35th with a score of 158. DeCola was 10 over par after the first round with an 82 in the books. Although she made no birdies, DeCola recorded par on nine holes. In round two DeCola tied with Coons for low score over the final 18 with a 4-over 76. DeCola went par or better on 13 of the final 18 holes of the day.
Graduate student Kristen Schelling is tied with DeCola in 35th at 158. Schelling was five over par in the first round with a 77, including back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14. She tallied pars on 10 of the remaining holes. It was a 9-over 81 in round two for Schelling, but she nearly doubled her birdie tally from round one, going under par on 12, 14 and four.
Sophomore Elizabeth Tong is tied for 49th with a score of 161. Tong recorded an 82 in round one, with nine pars over the 18 holes. She tallied her first birdie of the day on the par-5 12th hole in round two, finishing at seven over with a 79.
Rounding out the Hoosier lineup is senior Pamela Burneski who is 58th in the field at 166. Burneski shot a 13-over 85 in round one, with eight pars over 18 holes. She cut four strokes off that tally in round two with an 81, posting birdies on 13 and eight.
The teams will be back in action Sunday with a final 18-hole round. Due to expected frost, the teams will tee off in a shotgun format at 10 a.m. ET.
