Women's Golf 2nd at IU Fall Kickoff

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The Indiana women's golf team posted a second-place finish at its first event of the 2013-14 season, the IU Fall Kickoff at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind.
Louisville took first with a 36-hole score of 570, followed by the Hoosiers (597), Xavier (604), Cincinnati (605), Indiana State (618), Youngstown State (647) and DePauw (648). The tournament also featured individuals from Notre Dame, Purdue and IUPUI.
Freshman Ana Sanjuan paced the Hoosiers, finishing seventh individually with a score of 146. She opened with a 1-under 71 and tallied a 3-over 75 in the final round of the day.
Three strokes behind in a tie for eighth was sophomore Maria Mancini at 149. Mancini was +1 after round one with a 73 and carded a 4-over 76 for round two.
Competing as individuals, senior Sophie Hayashi tied for 32nd with a score of 155, posting rounds of 77 and 78. Freshman Theresa-Ann Jedra made her IU debut with a 46th-place finish (81-82/163), with junior Sarah Dusman placing tied for 56th (88-83/171).
The Hoosiers tee off in their first 54-hole tournament of the season this weekend (Sept. 14-15) as they travel to East Lansing, Mich. for the Mary Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State.
