EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Indiana University women's golf team has three players sitting among the top 40 after two rounds of the 54-hole Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers Club in East Lansing, Mich.

The Hoosiers are currently 11th in the 15-team field with a score of 627 (318-309). The host Spartans are in the lead at 584, with Ohio State second (592), Notre Dame third (600), Oregon fourth (602) and Northwestern fifth (605).

"We struggled on the greens a bit but we hung in on that last 18," said head coach Clint Wallman. "I was definitely pleased to see Elizabeth come back strong, and Ana played well. But we need to be a lot cleaner on the greens. I am pleased with how we hung in and tried to grind out good scores, we just didn't execute as well as we wanted to."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Junior Elizabeth Tong is the top Hoosier in a tie for 22nd with rounds of 78 and 74 (152). Tong finished with four birdies on the day, posting a four on the par-5 second hole and a three on the par-4 fifth hole in round one. In round two it was a two on the par-3 ninth hole and a four on the par-5 13th hole.
