BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior Kate Coons was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. It is her first Big Ten Player of the Week award.

Coons posted a fourth-place finish at the 18-team Briar's Creek Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. Despite battling wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and chilly conditions, Coons posted a 54-hole score of 222 (+6) capped of by a season-best score of 69 (-3) in the third round. After opening with a 78, Coons took three strokes off her score with a 75 in round two.
