Tong Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

For he second time this season, Indiana University women's golfer Elizabeth Tong is the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Tong won her third individual tournament title of the year this past Sunday when she took home the Indiana Invitational crown with a five-stroke victory over Thanuttra Boonraksasat of Kansas.
Tong tallied a 1-under 71 in round one and finished the first day of competition with a two-stroke lead at 146 (71-75). She went 1-under over the final 18 holes on Sunday, carding a 71 for a 1-over tally of 217.
The sophomore from Thornhill, Ontario has also picked up wins this year at the IU Fall Kickoff and the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
The Hoosiers close out regular-season play this weekend at the 54-hole Lady Buckeye Invitational on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University. The 12-team tournament features 36 holes of play on Saturday, followed by 18 holes on Sunday. Live results will be available at www.golfstat.com.
Nine of the 12 participating schools are from the Big Ten Conference, serving as a tune-up for next weekend's Big Ten Championships on the Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind.
