Women's Golf Closes Regular Season at Lady Buckeye Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's golf team will close its regular-season slate this weekend with the 54-hole Lady Buckeye Invitational on the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club.
The 12 participating teams will play 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a fixed start from No. 1 and 10 at 8:30 a.m. Sunday for an 18-hole round. Joining the Hoosiers and the host Buckeyes in the field are Augusta State, Iowa, Illinois, Kent State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State, Wisconsin and Youngstown State. Indiana is coming off its third tournament win this season with a three-stroke victory in the Indiana Invitational last weekend, posting a score of 890. Leading the way was sophomore Elizabeth Tong who picked up her third individual tournament win with a 1-over 217. Tong's efforts earned her Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Joining Tong in Columbus will be senior Kate Coons, senior Rosie Davies, graduate student Kristen Schelling, freshman Marissa DeCola and senior Pamela Burneski. Coons (t-3rd), Davies (t-9th) and Schelling (t-9th) all posted top-10 finishes last weekend. DeCola finished among the top 20, while Burneski is back competing for the first time since February after a layoff due to injury.
This will be the Hoosiers' final tune-up for the 2013 Big Ten Championships, April 26-28 on the Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort. The teams will play 54 holes, with rounds of 18 each day. Last year the Hoosiers placed 12th.
