PINEHURST, N.C. - Indiana University golfer Elizabeth Tong is currently tied for 77th after round one of the 69th U.S. Women's Open at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina.

Round one play was suspended at 7:55 p.m. ET due to weather conditions, with Tong already in the clubhouse. Action will resume on Friday morning at 6:45 a.m. ET, with the conclusion of Round 1 and the start of Round 2 happening simultaneously.

Tong, who will be a senior at IU this fall, carded a 6-over 76 after teeing off from the 10th hole at 12:30 p.m. with Jasi Acharya (U.S.) and Chisato Hashimoto (Japan). Tong and Hashimoto are two of 25 amateurs competing in the event.

Tong was 1-over after nine holes with a 36 to start. Her lone birdie of the round came on the par-3 17th hole. That put her at +5 for the final nine holes, ending the day with a double bogey on the par-3 ninth hole.

Round two will start at 6:45 a.m. ET for Tong as she tees off from hole No. 1. Indiana head coach Clint Wallman and assistant coach Lauren Harling are in North Carolina to watch Tong participate.
