Women's Golf Heads to Mary Fossum Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's golf team continues its fall schedule this Saturday and Sunday at the Mary Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.
The 54-hole tournament will take place at the 6,236-yard Forest Akers Golf Course. Teams joining the Hoosiers and host Spartans are Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Oregon, Ferris State, Ohio State, Northwestern, Louisiana-Monroe, Florida International, Miami, Oakland, Notre Dame, Toledo, and East Tennessee State.
The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, followed by 18 holes on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com
The Hoosiers will take six golfers to the five-count-four tournament, with one competing as an individual. Junior Elizabeth Tong will occupy the top spot, with sophomore Marissa DeCola golfing at No. 2. Freshman Ana Sanjuan makes her major tournament collegiate debut at No. 3, with sophomore Maria Mancini fourth and senior Sophie Hayashi fifth. Junior Kamryn Klawitter will compete as the individual.
Indiana is coming off a second-place finish at the IU Fall Kickoff. The 36-hole, one-day tournament took place at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind.
Sanjuan led the Hoosiers in her IU debut, opening with a 1-uner 71 and placing seventh with a 146. Mancini also finished in the top 10, placing tied for eighth with rounds of 73 and 76. DeCola was third among the Hoosiers with a tie for 24th (75-78), with Tong fourth (t-20th/77-75) and Hayashi fifth (t-32nd/77-78). Klawitter tied for 38th with a score of 158 (83-75).
