    AT INDIANA:

What are you involved in on campus? (Are you a member of a sorority, any clubs, intramurals etc.?) I am the director of sports and recreation for my dorm, Collins. I plan and create sports related events for residents such as team runs, intramural sports teams, hikes and rock climbing sessions.

Do you have a job or volunteer regularly? I started my own organization, Us Kids Need Help, where I have raised over $7,000 to supply educational materials to students in need. Right now, my organization is helping the Ronald McDonald House organization in Portland, OR (where children and their families can receive housing, supplies and emotional support while their child receives medical attention), and is also helping support boys in South Africa receive money for soccer and higher education.

Last year, I also worked as an intern for PacifiCorp, an energy company serving 6 states in the Western United States. I helped in their internal communications department by writing and editing articles for their various newsletters. I hope to intern for PacifiCorp again this summer or the Rose Festival Foundation, also based in Portland, OR.

What are you planning on majoring in? I plan on majoring in Journalism and Religious Studies - possibly minoring in English or Spanish.

What are your plans for after you graduate? Are you planning on pursing any sort of higher education? After I graduate, I hope to attend Oxford to pursue my Masters degree in Journalism. I hope to further my non-profit organization, Us Kids Need Help, by extending projects to help children in Eastern Europe and Africa who are faced with oppression. One day, I hope to work with government officials and world leaders to draft proposals and ultimately make changes in the lives of those who struggle with human rights violations.
