BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Indiana rowing team entered the national rankings at No. 20 in this week's CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, its first national ranking in program history.
"Today is an exciting day for Indiana Rowing," said head coach Steve Peterson. "This is the first time that Indiana has made it into the top 20 national rankings in the history of our program. The athletes have really worked hard toward this goal, but it is only the first step in what they are focused on achieving this year as a team."
The Hoosiers' First Varsity 8 crew is coming off back-to-back weeks of successful racing with a dead-heat finish against No. 15 Clemson and win by nearly two seconds over No. 17 Notre Dame to earn Big Ten Boat of the Week twice. Indiana is among six teams in the league ranked among the top 20 - No. 3 Michigan, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 12 Michigan State and No. 18 Minnesota.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, April 7, when it plays host the Big Ten Double Dual featuring Ohio State and Wisconsin.
