Seeding Announced for B1G Rowing Championships
May 13, 2014
Next Event: at Big Ten Championships -- Sunday, May 18 (Eagle Creek Park, Indianapolis, Ind.)
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Seeding has been set for the 2014 Big Ten Rowing Championships, which will take place on Sunday, May 18 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
The No. 13 Indiana Rowing team was rewarded for its success this season as the First Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 boats were seeded third among a field that includes reigning National Champion and the currently ranked No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 9 Michigan, No. 15 Wisconsin and No. 20 Michigan State, in addition to Iowa (two votes) and Minnesota. IU's First Varsity 4 and Novice 8 boats were seeded fifth, while the Second Varsity 4 crew is seeded seventh and the Third Varsity 4 crew is seeded sixth.
"Seeding went well for us," said head coach Steve Peterson. "As a team overall, it's some of the best seeding we've had going into the Big Ten Championship. As we tell all the athletes, the one thing to remember is that seeding is just seeding. It's not going to get you the medal and so the whole big thing that we have to think about is racing and performing to the level where we've been seeded."
The 2014 Big Ten Rowing Championships will get underway at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday with a seven-lane, finals-only regatta. The championship will air on the BTN, Sunday, May 25 at 1 p.m. ET.
