IU Rowing Participates in Hoosier Outrun Cancer
Oct. 3, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - For the fourth year in a row, the Indiana Rowing team participated in the Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5k road race. 65 members of rowing team abandoned their shells and team took to the streets to race in the 13th version of the local road race which starts and ends at IU's Memorial Football Stadium.
The 2012 Hoosiers Outrun Cancer once again supports the important work of the Olcott Center for Cancer Education. Year after year cancer survivors, their family and friends, big teams, small teams, athletes, leisurely walkers and many volunteers gather to volunteer, honor, and remember. Through the Bloomington Hospital Foundation and Hoosiers Outrun Cancer patients and their families can learn more about cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. All services are offered free of charge.
Leading the way for the Rowing Hoosiers was senior Co-Captain Kathryn Laine who finished the race second in her age group.
This is the second road race the team has taken part in this fall, as more than half of the team took part in the Indianapolis Women's Half Marathon back on September 1.
