Indiana Drops Big Ten Opener at Michigan
Sept. 15, 2012
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Indiana Women's Soccer team (5-3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) suffered a 3-0 loss to the Michigan Wolverines (7-2, 1-0 Big Ten) in Ann Arbor on Saturday night. The Hoosiers were only able to accumulate three shots in the contest while the Wolverines had 15.
"We came across a very good Michigan team," Indiana Head Coach Mick Lyon said. "They converted when they ahd good chances and it is hard to regain momentum when trying to come from behind. There were some bright parts and we look forward to the next opportunity to get out on the pitch."
Michigan scored first in the 18th minute when Nkem Ezurike scored her first of the season. She added her second of the game, and the season, with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Then in the 60th minute, Shelina Zadorsky tallied her first of the season with a header off a corner kick.
The Hoosiers return to action next weekend in Big Ten play, traveling to Iowa for an 8pm ET start on Friday.
