COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana women's soccer team played a hard-fought road game, but wound up on the short end of a 1-0 score against Ohio State on Friday night. The Buckeyes improved to 11-6-0 (5-3-0 Big Ten) and 10-0-0 at home, while Indiana is now 12-3-2 (5-2-1 Big Ten) on the season.

Ohio State got on the board at 72:29 with Alex Burzynski netting her fifth goal of the season. Burzynski moved into the box and found just enough breathing room to sneak a lofting shot over keeper Lauren Hollandsworth and just inside the near side post to make the score 1-0. Amanda Ball and Emily Esbrook were credited with assists on the play.

Indiana had a strong opportunity in the 21st minute with Kristin Arnold narrowly missing her 10th goal of the season. The sophomore ripped a shot from 30 yards and sailed it toward the upper part of the net. The shot glanced off the crossbar and the rebound came to Leigh Anne Cummings, whose shot carried just wide of the net. The Hoosiers posted nine shots in the frame, placing three shots on net.

IU hit the crossbar again just over a minute into the second half. Arnold took a corner from the near side and sent the ball to Chloe McKay just outside the 18. The freshman ripped a shot that glanced off the bar and to Liz Holby on the far side, but OSU was able to disrupt the attempt and clear the ball.

Indiana unleashed 14 shots to the Buckeyes' 12 in the contest, though OSU had seven corners to five for the Hoosiers. Lauren Robertson picked up her seventh shutout on the season with five saves, while Hollandsworth made two for the Hoosiers.

The Hoosiers return to action on Sunday when they travel to University Park, Pa. for a contest against No. 13 Penn State. The contest will be televised live on the Big Ten Network beginning at 1 p.m. EDT.
