Women's Soccer Signs 10 Student-Athletes
Feb. 8, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head Coach Mick Lyon of the Indiana women's soccer team has announced the signing of 10 student-athletes for the 2008 season. The class includes some of the finest players in the region in addition to student-athletes from Texas, Arizona and Canada.
"The 2008 class has an exciting mixture of speed, size and experience within the group," Lyon said. "When this class blends in with the returners in August, I think IU Women's Soccer will continue its domination in Armstrong Stadium and climb to even greater heights in the Big Ten."
One Indiana native will join the Hoosiers as part of the 2008 class. Martinsville High standout Kaylin Clow will remain in state to play on the collegiate level. Five others won't have to travel far to join the Hoosier squad, in the form of two players from Illinois and a trio from Ohio. Gina Daniele (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), Alexis Dickison (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and Kerri Krawczak (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) all join the Hoosier roster from the Buckeye State. Michelle Lind (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and Carly Samp (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) will head east from their native state to play for IU.
A pair of new Hoosiers hails from the Lone Star State, becoming the first two IU players that hail from Texas. Katie Burden (San Antonio, Texas/Winston Churchill) and Lindsay Campbell (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) will join the Hoosiers in 2008. Likewise, Kirsta Kellin (Carefree, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) is looking to become IU's first player from Arizona after a strong career in club soccer.
IU's final recruit for the class of 2008 comes from north of the border, as Toronto, Ontario, native Devon Beach signed on to join the Hoosier roster. Beach is the third international player to join the IU roster in Lyon's tenure, as the Canadian National Team player joins Kelly Lawrence (England, 2006) and Stacey Van Boxmeer (Canada, 2003).
