Feb. 18, 2008
Over the next several weeks, IUHoosiers.com will be bringing you profiles of the players that signed with the Indiana women's soccer team in early February. The profile for Monday, Feb. 18, is of Dallas, Texas, native Lindsay Campbell.
Lindsay Campbell will join the Hoosiers after playing three years of varsity soccer at the Hockaday School. Hockaday, which plays during the winter months, opened the 2007-08 season 14-2 with 11 shutouts.
Campbell helped Hockaday to a 19-6-4 record as a junior as the team finished with 14 shutouts. Prior to that, the team went 17-5-6 and lost in the Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship game in 2005-06.
In addition to her high school team, Campbell has played club soccer for Sting Royal 90 since 2000. She had a 3-2-4 record for Sting Royal in 2007, playing in 15 games and making nine starts and helped team to 2007 Texas Cup and Surf Cup Championships, as the team was the Regional Premier League runner-up.
"The expectations for Lindsay are very high since she comes from a very strong Texas Sting soccer program and has already played at a high level of soccer," head coach Mick Lyon said. "She is a goalkeeper whom I expect to make some rapid improvements under the guidance of goalkeeping expert (assistant coach) Erika True and will become a big time player for the Hoosiers. Her natural flair and skill for making saves and understanding how the game is being played in front of her will make Lindsay an impact freshman."
Campbell also played varsity volleyball, softball and basketball at Hockaday and was an all-conference selection twice in softball. The goalkeeper has one sister, Kathleen. The daughter of Bryan and Shari Campbell was born on Sept. 28, 1989, and is undecided regarding her major.
