Feb. 21, 2008
Over the next several weeks, IUHoosiers.com will be bringing you profiles of the players that signed with the Indiana women's soccer team in early February. The profile for Thursday, Feb. 21, is of Martinsville, Ind., native Kaylin Clow.
Kaylin Clow will be making the brief trip down route 37 after earning four letters at Martinsville. The midfielder/forward set school records for goals (23), assists (11) and points (57) in a season in 2007 and was named the 2007 offensive MVP.
Clow picked up first team all-district honors in both 2006 and 2007 while serving as team captain. She also was named second team all-district in 2005 and picked up all-conference honors in each of her four seasons. The Martinsville native was additionally named to the 2005 and 2006 All-Metro West team.
"For three years we had heard about the girl up the road who was scoring goals at a record pace for Martinsville High School but it wasn't until she came to the IU camp that my jaw dropped and I asked, `who is that?'" head coach Mick Lyon said. "Kaylin has the raw ability to set the game on fire with tremendous speed and some great skill with the ball and I am so thrilled she has chosen to stay in state and play at IU. Kaylin is taking a huge leap forward by joining the IU program and I have no doubt she will be a star of the future."
Clow's excellence was not limited to the playing field, either, as she was an academic honor student and served as vice president of her junior class, senior class and student council. She was also a member of Relay for Life.
Clow has one brother, Corbin. The daughter of Paula and Terry Clow intends to major in physical therapy at Indiana and was born on Feb. 8, 1990.
