BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team will open its spring 2008 season this weekend with a pair of games inside Mellencamp Pavilion. The Hoosiers will take on Indiana State and Dayton on Sunday, March 2, at the indoor facility.

The two games are the opening of Indiana's seven-game spring schedule. The Hoosiers will take on Kentucky, Notre Dame and Wright State during the spring, plus games against IU alumnae and FC Indiana, one of the top senior women's teams in the world.

Indiana was ranked 21st in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll of the 2007 season. The Hoosiers finished the season 13-7-3, including a trip to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest the Hoosiers had ever gone in the postseason. The Hoosiers return eight starters from last year's team.

The Hoosiers had several key victories during the season, including a stunning, overtime, come-from-behind victory over eventual national champion USC on Sept. 9. It was one of just three losses for the Women of Troy in 2007. The Hoosiers also advanced past Big Ten Tournament champion and No. 8 Purdue in penalty kicks in the second round of the NCAAs.

Indiana State posted a 6-12-0 mark during the 2007 season, while Dayton was 13-4-4 on the year. The two contests will follow Indiana's annual awards banquet, which will be held Saturday, March 1, in the Hoosier Room at Memorial Stadium.
