Over the past few weeks, IUHoosiers.com has brought you profiles of the players that signed with the Indiana women's soccer team in early February. The profile for Monday, March 3, is of Carefree, Ariz., native Kirsta Kellin.

Kirsta Kellin is the lone member of the 2008 class that did not play high school soccer, instead playing for Sereno Soccer Club year round. The Sereno 90 White Under-17 squad was ranked No. 1 in the nation by Got Soccer as Kellin helped the team to a U-17 state championship and a Surf Cup Championship in 2007.

"As the first Arizona player to join the IU ranks the pressure on Kirsta is big, but I am very confident that she will pull through as a freshman," head coach Mick Lyon said. "She has a great hold on the game since she played for several years with the nationally recognized Sereno program, and I think her balance for the game will be a factor in the midfield. Her ability to run and compete all day long should prove a strong suit for her."

Kellin also was a member of the U-17 State Olympic Development Program player pool and went to the U-17 Region IV Championships in 2006. Sereno was also a West Coast Finalist in 2006, as Kellin helped the U-16 team to Arizona state championship and a Region IV quarterfinals appearance. Her U-15 squad also took home the 2005 state championship.

The midfielder has one brother, Thor. The daughter of Sandy and Robyn Kellin intends to major in finance at Indiana and was born on Dec. 25, 1989.
