Over the past few weeks, IUHoosiers.com has brought you profiles of the players that signed with the Indiana women's soccer team in early February. The profile for Thursday, March 6, is of Strongsville, Ohio, native Kerri Krawczak.

Kerri Krawczak joins the Hoosiers after having played four years of varsity soccer at Strongsville. Krawczak was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American and All-Region IV selection at midfield in 2007 and also was named first team all-state, Valley Conference MVP and All-Greater Cleveland Player of the Year.

"Kerri has all the tools to be an impact player from day one as a hard-hitting fast and tough defender from the city of Cleveland," head coach Mick Lyon said. "I absolutely love the way Kerri takes care of forwards and stays true to the number one job for defenders; don't let the other team score. Her athletic talent and toughness will be a great compliment for the crafty and talented sophomore defender Kelly Lawrence."

The Strongsville native scored 15 goals and had 13 assists and was team captain for the Lady Mustangs. She earned Cleveland Plain Dealer "Best of the Best" recognition and was selected team MVP in both 2006 and 2007. She collected all-conference and all-district recognition each year from 2005-07 and led her team to 2005 state championship and 2007 state runner-up finish. Strongsville picked up 2005 and 2007 regional championships and added a district championship in 2004.

Krawczak played club soccer with Internationals Soccer Club, where she captained the squad to a spot in the 2006 United States Youth Soccer Association National Championship and a Region II Championship. She also led the team to 2006 and 2007 Ohio State North Championships. The defender helped Internationals to 2004 Super-Y League North American Championship

She is also strong off the pitch, as she is a member of National Honors Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Krawczak has one brother, Joe, and one sister, Sarah. The daughter of Ken and Kim Krawczak is undecided regarding her major at IU and was born on April 27, 1990.
