    Hoosiers Sign Four Student-Athletes To Letter of Intent

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University Women's Soccer head coach Amy Berbary has announced the signing of four student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent to join the team for the 2013 season.

    The signees include Veronica Ellis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), Lauren Joray (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine), Ari Kowalski (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township), and Vija Veinbergs (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney Community).

    "We are very excited to have these four student-athletes join the Hoosier family this fall," Berbary said. "I know they are eager to merge with an already hard-working group of players that are committed to do what it takes to propel IU women's soccer to the top of the Big Ten."

     Midfield/Defender | 5'7 | Naperville, Ill. | Naperville Central High School

    Was a four-year letterwinner at Naperville Central High School ... led NCHS to a 20-2-2 record in 2012, a school record ... received all-area recognition from the Naperville Sun and Daily Herald as a senior ... named all-conference as a junior as well as all-sectional ... team won conference title each of the past three seasons ... claimed a regional title in 2010 and 2011 ... participated on the Illinois ODP '94 State team in 2010 and 2011 and was part of the Region II ODP Pool those years as well ... played club soccer for Chicago Fire Juniors for four years before the team merged to form the Sockers FC prior to her senior year ... won a regional title with the Fire in 2009 and was a finalist at the U.S. Club Nationals ... claimed the Illinois State Cup in 2010 and was a finalist in 2011 ... the daughter of Ron and Toni Ellis ... has one sister, Taylor ... intends to major in Business.

    Has been a four-year starter at New Palestine High School ... scored 67 goals and assisted on 48 during her high school career ... helped New Palestine to sectional titles in each of the last three years ... earned all-conference honors all four years as well as all-county recognition ... as a senior, earned first team all-district and second team all-state ... named Hancock County Player of the Year as a junior as well as first team all-state ... her sophomore season saw her garner second team all-district accolades ... played club soccer for St. Francis Soccer Club and Zionsville Youth Soccer Association ... is also a member of the track team, where she set school records in the 4x800 relay, 4x400 relay and 800 meters ... the daughter of Greg and Linda Joray ... has three brothers, Aaron, Scott and Kevin ... is undecided on a major..

    Played, and started, every game of her high school career beginning as a freshman at Lyons Township ... led Lyons Township to an undefeated conference season ... was also a team captain as a senior ... won a regional title in 2011 and 2010 ... named all-conference as a sophomore ... earned all-state accolades as a junior ... was also named to the Chicago Tribune's Second Team All-State as a junior ... has been on the honor every semester of high school ... played club soccer for Chicago Fire Juniors and helped them to the 2011 state finals ... also played for the Sockers F.C. Chicago team and on the ODP Region II team in 2011 ... the daughter of Joel and Adrienne Kowalski ... has one brother (Billy) and one sister (Grace) ... undecided on a major.

    Was a four-year varsity starter at Pinckney Community High School ... a two-time team captain ... earned team MPV honors following her junior campaign ... named Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore ... selected to the first team all-county and first team all-district ... also a four-year scholar-athlete ... played club soccer with Michigan Football Club '95 and won the 2012-13 Michigan State Cup title ... was a 2012 Region II semifinalist ... advanced to the finals twice at the Disney Showcase ... the daughter of Martin and Kate Veinbergs ... has two sisters (Emmi and Maija) and one brother (Lukas) ... intends to major in Exercise Science.
