BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team will play its first outdoor game of the spring season this weekend, as the Hoosiers face Iowa State on Sunday in Bloomington. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m. between the two foes. IU is 1-0-1 in the spring, while Iowa State is opening its spring campaign on Saturday with two games in Indianapolis.
The Cyclones are under the direction of Wendy Dillinger, the all-time leading scorer in IUWS history. ISU will take on Butler and IUPUI on Saturday in Indianapolis before heading south to take on the Hoosiers on Sunday. The Cyclones went 5-12-2 in Dillinger's first season in Ames.
Indiana opened its spring campaign with a pair of indoor games in Mellencamp Pavilion three weeks ago. The Hoosiers knocked off IUPUI 4-1 in the first of two games and then settled for a 0-0 tie against Kentucky in the second contest.
Kerri Krawczak scored on a header, and Chloe McKay, Kristin Arnold and Carly Samp each added tallies as the Hoosiers ran away with the victory over the Jaguars. In the second contest, the Hoosiers and Wildcats battled to a scoreless tie. All three Hoosier keepers - Lindsay Campbell, Lex Dickison and Lauren Hollandsworth played in both contests, and split the shutout against UK. IUPUI bested Kentucky 3-2 in the other contest.
IU returns all 11 starters from the 2008 squad. The Hoosiers lost just 100 minutes of game action from last year's team. Indiana finished 8-10-1 with a 3-6-1 record in conference action.
