BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's soccer head coach Amy Berbary announced the 2013 schedule for the Hoosiers on Wednesday (June 12), which features 11 home games including the Hoosier Classic against St. John's and Central Michigan.
"As a staff, we are looking forward to having the team back on campus and getting the season underway," said Berbary. "We are thrilled to have the Hoosier Classic back on the schedule, competing against St. John's and Central Michigan, which is part of a six game home stretch that will help us build momentum as we head into Big Ten play."
The Hoosiers will open the season on the road against Ohio University on Aug. 23 but return home two days later (Aug. 25) to take on Georgia Southern in the home opener at Armstrong Stadium with a 1pm start time.
After playing a pair of road games at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Loyola (IL) on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1, respectively, IU will return to Armstrong Stadium for six consecutive home games starting on Sept. 6 against Eastern Michigan. They will also host Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 8 before taking part in the Hoosier Classic.
The Hoosier Classic will see St. John's, Central Michigan and Ohio State descend upon Bloomington for games on Sept. 13 and 15. Indiana will play St. John's on Sept. 13 and Central Michigan on Sept. 15 while Ohio State will play Central Michigan on Friday at 3:30pm and St. John's on Sunday at 11:00am.
Indiana will then host Xavier on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7pm in the final non-conference game of the season before starting Big Ten play at home against Minnesota on Saturday, Sept. 21 with a 6pm start time.
Big Ten play continues with road games at Ohio State (Sept. 27) and at Penn State (Sept. 29) before Indiana returns home to take on Northwestern (Oct. 4), Illinois (Oct. 6) and Iowa (Oct. 12).
Those three home games are followed by three straight road games against Michigan (Oct. 18), Michigan State (Oct. 20) and Purdue (Oct. 24).
The Final home game of the season is against Wisconsin on Oct. 27 starting at 1:30pm before a trip to Lincoln, Neb., ends the regular season against Nebraska.
Hosted by Illinois, the Big Ten Tournament will take place Nov. 6-10 in Champaign.
