IU to Host Canadian National Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team will have a big challenge ahead of them during its preseason, when Canada, the 12th-ranked women's national soccer team in the world, will pay a visit to Bloomington to take on the Hoosiers on Aug. 15 at 7 pm on Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The Canadian National team will play IU in preparation for the World Cup qualifying games to be played later in the year. It will also makes stops at Illinois, Missouri and Purdue.
The Hoosiers are coming off a perfect spring in which they racked up a 9-0 record after claiming victories over Ball State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Louisville, Southern Indiana, St. Louis and Valparaiso.
Indiana head coach Mick Lyon said he is very excited to bring a world-class team to Bloomington.
"This is tremendous for the IU women's soccer team," Lyon said. "This will be an early test of where we are as a squad. Anytime you bring in an international team, it brings out a whole new level of play. It should be a fun and exciting game for both the team and the fans."
Admission to the event will be free for all spectators.
