    Markwort, St. Louis FC Fall in Semifinals

    SEATTLE - Indiana senior midfielder Beverly Markwort and her club team, St. Louis FC, fell in the national semifinals 3-2 on Friday, Aug. 4. North Carolina's Triad United Aces took the contest to eliminate St. Louis from the amateur bracket of the national tourney.

    Markwort's St. Louis FC club won Region 2 in the women's amateur division to move on to the semifinals. The team will face North Carolina's Triad United Aces of Region 3 at 6 p.m. PDT. A win would place them in Sunday's finals against the winner of the match between the SF Nighthawks and NY Athletic Club. Sunday's finals are scheduled for 1 p.m.

    Markwort played in 18 games and started 11 for the Hoosiers in the midfield in 2006. In three years, she has played 50 games for IU at both defense and midfield, totaling one assist.
