Women's Soccer Holds First Day of Official Practice
Aug. 8, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's soccer first-year head coach Amy Berbary and her staff began preseason practice on Wednesday at the IU Women's Soccer Practice Field. It was the first official practice of the season with the season opener just a couple weeks away on Aug. 23 at Ohio University. The first home came will be Sunday, Aug. 25, against Georgia Southern at 1 p.m. ET. Admission is free to all home IUWS games in 2013.
"We were so excited to get out on the pitch today as an entire team for the first time," Berbary said. "Everyone was eager to show their improvement from last year and get the preseason off to a great start, which we did."
The Hoosiers welcome back 23 letterwinners from last year, including eight starters. A couple of the top returning players for IU include Lisa Nouanesengsy, a senior midfielder who was second on the team with seven goals scored last year. Rebecca Candler, another senior, set the IU single-season record for assists in a season with 10 last year at the forward position.
