Aug. 15, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team began its preseason on Wednesday, Aug. 15., taking part in their first practices of the 2007 fall season. The Hoosiers practiced from 9-11 a.m. and from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday.
"After the first training session and first round of fitness testing, we're starting on a positive note," head coach Mick Lyon said. "It's exciting to get back on the field and start our quest for the 2007 Big Ten Championship. Today is the best day of this job because you get to see the girls on the field and training for the new season."
The Hoosiers will have two practices on both Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday will have a morning practice followed by an intrasquad game at 6 p.m. After morning training sessions on Sunday and Monday, IU will travel to Columbia, Mo., for its lone exhibition contest of the preseason, as it faces Missouri on Tuesday, Aug. 21, for a 7 p.m. contest.
Indiana begins its 2007 season with a pair of road contests against NCAA Tournament contenders. The Hoosiers begin things with a contest at No. 13 Florida on Friday, Aug. 31, and will follow that up by facing Jacksonville on Sunday, Sept. 2. The team will host its first games the following weekend, with contests against Loyola Marymount and No. 25 USC scheduled for Sept. 7 and 9, respectively, as part of the annual Hoosier Classic.
