Women's Soccer Blog - Kirsta Kellin
Aug. 21, 2008
Throughout the 2008 season, members of the Indiana women's soccer team will give IUHoosiers.com readers an inside look of what is going on with the team. The blog for Thursday, August 21, is by freshman midfielder Kirsta Kellin.
Another day has passed where there has yet to be a tornado warning. Coming from Arizona, where one rarely sees a cloud, that is quite the disappointment. Although aside from watching the weather, a lot has gone on since my arrival!
The other freshmen and I have quickly adjusted to the IU lifestyle. This includes neglecting our laundry, taking cups full of cookies from training tables, and re-arranging our dorm rooms at least seven times. We all have also learned where to shop and buy our organic food! Since we are now a "green team" it is only right!
This past Saturday we had a victorious match against Miami of Ohio with my dear Canadian friend Devon Beach scoring the game-defining goal! After the first-game jitters were quickly forgotten, the team put together many good passes and created several goal-scoring opportunities. After commemorating the win, the team joined all the parents and coaches for a tailgate celebration!
After Sunday's day off, we were back on the practice field Monday bright and early! We worked on passing decisions, making the right runs, and of course our fitness. Now this was not just any fitness, this was a wonderful surprise that not many were expecting on such a morning. Luckily we are all in stellar shape, so we survived and further improved our toned tummies!
The rest of this week has just been continuous preparation for our game this Friday against Dayton!! I can speak for all the freshmen when I say we are SOOO excited for the bus ride to our FIRST OFFICIAL college game!! We are all so ready to start what will be a very successful season!
