    HOOSIERS LOSE AT XAVIER, 2-1

    Cincinnati, Ohio- The Indiana women's soccer team was defeated by Xavier 2-1 in Cincinnati in the season-opener for both teams. Xavier's Annette Gruber scored the winning goal with just under three minutes remaining at 87:12 off of a free kick.

    Following a scoreless first half, the Musketeers got on the board at 52:33 on a goal by Megan Hosty. The Hoosiers countered quickly as freshman forward Jenny Mann scored her first collegiate goal at 59:29 unassisted.

    Tracy Grose led Indiana with five shots and keeper Ashley Davis registered three saves.

    Indiana is on the road next weekend at the Missouri Tournament, when it plays Vanderbilt on Sept. 3 (4 p.m.) and Missouri on Sept. 5 (noon).
