Kotynski Named to CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer's List
Sept. 16, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior defender Christie Kotynski (Hudson, Ohio) was named to CollegeSoccer360.com's Primetime Performers List this week after scoring the game-tying and game-winning goals against Hofstra on Friday. It marks the second consecutive week that Indiana has had a player on the list after Devon Beach earned the honor last week.
On Friday, Kotynski took a pass from Devon Beach following a short corner kick and deflected it into the net for her second goal of the year to tie the game at 1-1 with just over one minute remaining in the game. Then in the 105th minute, Kelly Lawrence dropped off a pass to Kotynski from 30 yards out and she drilled the ball into the upper right corner of the goal, giving the Hofstra keep no chance to make the save to give IU the dramatic 3-2 win.
The victory improved the Hoosiers to 6-0-0 on the year to set a new mark for the best start in school history. The tally was also her second consecutive game-winning goal after she netted the game-winner against Mercer a week earlier. Kotynski now has six career game-winning goals, which is tied for the fourth-most in school history and trails current teammate Kristin Arnold by one for the most among active players.
Indiana, ranked No. 22 in the latest polls this week, will play host to Butler University at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) and Green Bay on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all IU women's soccer matches is free this season.
