Lamping Earns Big Ten Honor
September 20, 2004
PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Sophomore defender Lauren Lamping has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday.
Lamping was a key member of the Hoosier defense that allowed just six shots and one goal over the weekend. Indiana went on to defeat Minnesota 2-1 in overtime and Iowa 1-0 for its first 2-0 start in conference play since 1996.
It is the first time in her career that Lamping has received the award. It is also the first time in the history of the IU women's soccer program that the Hoosiers have received an offensive and defensive player of the week honor from the Big Ten. Senior midfielder Kim Grodek earned the offensive accolade on Sept. 1.
Penn State's Tiffany Weimer was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week.
