#25 HOOSIERS WILL TEST RANKING AT #3 NOTRE DAME

IN THE RANKINGS: Indiana is #25 in this week's Soccer News Top 25. The Hoosiers last visit to the top 25 was after winning the 1996 Big Ten Tournament.

GAME DATA: The #25 Indiana Women's Soccer team (5-1-0, 1-1-0 Big Ten)) heads to South Bend for the Notre Dame-Irish Key Bank Classic. The Hoosiers battle #3 Notre Dame (6-1-0) Friday at 7:30 p.m. and conclude the weekend Sunday against Missouri.

COACH JOE KELLEY: Coach Joe Kelley is in his sixth season as the IU women's soccer coach. He has a career and IU record of 55-47-1.

SERIES HISTORY: Indiana is 0-6-0 all-time against Notre Dame. The Irish won the 1997 contest 8-0 in Bloomington and defeated the Hoosiers in their only NCAA Tournament (1996) appearance, 8-0.

Indiana will meet Missouri for the second time. The Hoosiers won the 1996 contest 5-1 in Bloomington.

HOOSIER WEEK IN REVIEW: Indiana split the weekend with a tough 2-1 loss at #8 Penn State Friday and a 2-1 overtime win against Ohio State Sunday. IU junior goalkeeper Ashley Davis had a great week. Davis stopped 11 shots at Penn State and three against Ohio State, including one Buckeye shot headed for the upper right corner of the net in overtime. Hoosier junior forward Tracy Grose collected five points (2 goals, 1 assist). Grose scored the IU goal at #8 Penn State and led the Hoosiers to victory over Ohio State by scoring the game winner in overtime. Grose's assist came when she tapped an indirect kick to junior forward Carrie Watts for the goal that tied the Ohio State contest with just 2:26 left in regulation.

IU IN THE BIG TEN: (Team) Indiana's 0.66 goals against average is second to Minnesota at 0.60.

(Individual) Davis leads the conference with a 0.66 goals against average and is tied for second in shutouts with three. Grose's 14 points and six goals this season tie her for third in both categories. Watts is tied for fifth with four assists.

OPPONENTS: (#3 Notre Dame) Irish head coach Chris Petrucelli returns nine starters from last season's final four team. Notre Dame's only loss came at the hands of #1 North Carolina. Last week the Irish defeated Rutgers 3-0 and Villanova 5-0.

IN THE TRAINING ROOM: Freshman midfielder Kelly Kram hyperextended her knee during the second half of Indiana's overtime victory over Ohio State. Kram probably will not miss any action. Junior back Emily Etzkorn tore her meniscus last week during practice and had surgery Friday. She is expected to be out another two to three weeks.

QUOTING COACH KELLEY: (on the Etzkorn injury) "We definitely miss Etzkorn, but we have to find ways to adjust. We have 18 starters on this team and they all have to be ready to play."

(on Notre Dame) "We need to go (to South Bend) and show that we can play at that level."

(on playing tough competition) "At Penn State, we proved we can play with the best in the country. We just have to find a way to play that way on a consistent basis."

STREAKS: Grose is the only IU player to collect at least one point in all six games. She scored one goal in the win over Xavier, two goals against IUPUI, the game winning goal against Wright State, assisted on the lone goal in the St. Louis contest, scored the only goal for IU in a tough 2-1 loss at No. 8 Penn State, and against Ohio State, assisted the tying goal with 2:24 left in regulation before scoring the game winner in overtime.
