Grodek Makes Sports Illustrated -

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior Kim Grodek is listed in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of this weeks Sports Illustrated. "
Grodek, a first team All-Big Ten performer a year ago, began the season with an offensive outburst in the 2004 Milwaukee Cup. She led the Hoosiers to a championship in the season opening tournament recording 11-points in two games.
In the season opener against Marquette on Aug. 27., Grodek notched her first collegiate hat trick and added an assist. She then scored two more goals in the championship game against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Aug. 29., a 2-1 IU victory.
For her efforts on that weekend, Grodek was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. She also became the first Indiana women's soccer player to be named to the Elite Team of the Week by Soccer Buzz and to Soccer America's Team of the Week.
The midfielder leads the Hoosiers in goals (6), points (15), shots (22), shots on goal (16) and game-winning goals (3) on the season. She is also tied for first in assists with three helpers. She recently topped the Indiana career list in Big Ten goals with 11, and is currently fourth in school history with 23 goals and 51 points.
"The Faces In The Crowd" section highlights four to six people every week who have a great athletic achievement to share. The people featured range from kids to college athletes to senior citizens who have all accomplished an athletic feat.
The issue, which is Sports Illustrated 50th Anniversary edition, is currently available on newsstands where the magazine is sold.
