The Hoosiers closed out non-conference play with a 4-4-1 record after a 1-0-1 weekend against a pair of Mid-American Conferene foes a week ago. On Friday, Kent State came to town and left with a 1-1 tie against the Hoosiers. Then on Sunday Orianica Velasquez and Carly Samp both scored their fifth goals of the season to give IU a 2-1 win against a strong Central Michigan squad. For Velasquez it was her second game-winning goal of the year. Indiana is now 7-0-1 all-time against Mid-American Conference teams. After going with a goalkeeper rotation the first part of the season, senior Lauren Hollandsworth seems to have settled back into the role she occupied during the Hoosiers 2008 run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.

Northwestern will be playing its first road match since an Aug. 31 game at BYU. Wisconsin recorded a pair of wins last weekend to improve to 3-3-2 overall heading into conference play, after being picked to finish near the top of the conference coaches during the preseason.

    THE COACHES
Mick Lyon is in his ninth season at the helm of the IU women's soccer program, where he has a record of 76-69-18. Last year the Hoosiers finished the seaosn with a 10-7-2 overall record and fell just short of earning an NCAA Tournament berth. The team started out 2009 with six straight victories to set a school record. His 2007 campaign was his finest as a Hoosier head coach, as he led IU to its first NCAA Tournament in his tenure, and saw the Hoosiers advance to the third round of the Tournament for the first time in school history. Lyon's teams have been dominant at home, as the Hoosiers are 48-21-8 on Yeagley Field in his reign, including a 29-11-5 mark in the last three seasons. Lyon has a career record of 184-134-37 (.518) in his 18th year as a college coach.

Paula Wilkins is in her fourth season at Wisconsin and has compiled a 28-29-9 overall record. Stephanie Erickson is in her fifth season at Northwestern and has a overall record of 63-43-12.
