Bloomington, Indiana -- The Indiana women's soccer team recorded a 0-0 double overtime tie with Ohio State to extend its school record home unbeaten streak to 11 games at Bill Armstrong Stadium Friday evening.
The Hoosiers (2-3-3, 1-0-2 Big Ten) just missed victory when freshman Kristen Sprunger's shot bounced off the crossbar with 6:37 remaining in the first overtime. IU senior Tracy Grose also had several chances to put away the Buckeyes (5-2-2, 0-1-1 Big Ten), firing five of the Hoosiers seven shots for the game.
Ohio State also had several chances to score in regulation, but only managed one shot in overtime. The shot by Emily Thorpe was stopped by IU goalkeeper Ashley Davis who finished with six saves.
Davis recorded her second shutout of the season and now has 12.5 for her career which is 1.5 of the IU record of 14 held by Merit Elzey (1994-97). Grose also continued her assault on the record book, taking five shots to tie her with Kris Fosdick (1994-98) for second in career shots at 175.
IU freshman Kate Kastl continued to show why she is one of the best freshman in the Big Ten. Kastl fired just one shot on goal, but covered the field and set up several of the opportunities that just missed for the Hoosiers.
NEXT GAME: Indiana hosts No. 5 Penn State Sunday at Noon.
