South Bend, Ind. -- The #25 Indiana women's soccer team lost 3-0 to #3 Notre Dame (7-1) at Alumni Field in the Irish Key Bank Classic Friday night.
Indiana's (5-2, 1-1 Big Ten) 16th rated defense made sure Notre Dame knew it was in a fight. The Irish are third in the nation in scoring, but could only muster three goals out of 22 shots.
Indiana junior goalkeeper Ashley Davis kept the Irish offense in check with five saves. She was assisted by Hoosier backs: senior Nikki Porter, freshman Kelly Cole, senior Emily Bridenstine, and sophomore Wendy Graves.
The Hoosier offense never got started. Junior forwards Tracy Grose and Abby Ryan as well as freshman forward Sara Gustafson were the only three Hoosiers to get a shot at goal.
Next Game: The Hoosiers will conclude their visit at the Irish Key Bank Classic when they face Missouri Sunday at 11 a.m. in South Bend.
Next home game: Indiana returns to Bill Armstrong Stadium to battle Wisconsin Friday October 2nd at 7 p.m.
