    No. 28 HOOSIERS FALL TO No. 2 NOTRE DAME

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ? No. 28 Indiana (7-3, 2-1) fell to No. 2 Notre Dame (10-0-1) at Bill Armstrong Stadium tonight 8-0. The undefeated Irish split the scoring with four goals in each half and recorded their eighth shutout of the season.

    Indiana recorded one shot in the first half and three in the second in the very physical match. Merit Elzey played the first half, recording one save, and Ashley Davis played the second, recording seven saves. Indiana?s Carrie Watts left the game with 10:11 to go in the first half with a concussion.

    Notre Dame tied the record for most goals scored against the Hoosiers, a mark they already owned. The Irish did set new Armstrong Stadium records for opponent goals and shots (30) in a single game. The previous marks were seven and 21, respectfully, by Notre Dame on September 7, 1995.

    The Hoosier take off to Iowa for a match against the Hawkeyes Friday, October 3 at 3:00 pm. The next home game is Sunday, October 5 at 1:30 pm against Illinois.
